iCloud Desktop & Documents location

So what are the pros and cons of placing the Desktop and Documents folder on your iCloud storage rather than on your local drive?
I'd love to read people's thoughts on this topic. TIA

I’ve 3 copies of my data: local drive, external hard drive, iCloud. And convenience, I can access those files (to edit or email) from my iPad and iPhone. I know I could do this with any other cloud provider, I just find iCloud to be working very well for my needs, better than OneDrive, even if OneDrive offers me much more space.
