Desktop folder keeps popping up-help!

Hi recently I had a problem with my Macbook Pro, whenever I am on the net and save pictures (i like to save them by simply dragging them to my desktop) but now whenever I do this the desktop folder just keeps popping up and its irking me! does anyone have any ideas and solutions? Thank you
