Hello - I am new to mac and not very computer savvy and hoping for some help here.

I was trying to move some of my files to an external hard drive and a number of my programs/applications showed up on my desktop - see screenshot. Could someone please help me. If I "eject" them from my desktop will I lose them? I still see them in my applications folder too.

Thank you in advance,

Janis

From the screenshot is appears you've got all the applications' installer disks mounted on the desktop. You can eject them, and still have the 'dmg' files residing in your downloads folder.

The whole idea of these installer disks is they either come with an installer inside them that installs the application into the Applications folder, along with any support files it needs, or it offers a single application that you drag to the Applications folder.
