Desktop icons disappearing

I mentioned this in another thread, and some other people agreed that it happens with them to. Basically, my hard drive icons (the only ones I keep on the desktop) occasionally disappear, and only reappear when I relaunch Finder.

Running 10.6.1. Does this happen to anyone else?

Does changing your finder preferences help? (Located under the Finder menu.)

This has been happening since I installed SL. Something is crashing, as I understand it.

TC icon gone

I set up a 1TB Time Capsule as my wireless Time Machine backup disk for a new MacBook Pro. (It is also my wireless router.) Out of habit, I dragged the icon to the trash (as if it were my old external hard drive). Nothing I do makes it re-appear. Any advice? Changes made in the Finder menu have no effect. Nor does relaunching the Finder.
