Desktop icons - Help

Just switched from a PC to a MacBook Pro and I love it.

I can't seem to reduce the size of the icons on the desktop. I right click, show view options and move the slider to make them smaller but nothing happens. Any direction the slider is moved, nothing happens as well.

Any suggestions as to what may be causing this?

Try to relaunch the Finder:

press Alt + Right click on Finder icon in the Dock, then click "Relaunch".

It should refresh the Desktop as well.
