Hi,

I just upgraded from Catalina to Ventura and everything looked fine until I renamed a file on the desktop.
Until them all my desktop icons were positioned all over my desktop where I placed them.

Suddenly, after renaming the file, all the icons lined themselves to the grid on the right.
I rebooted and then they were back to the original positions where I had placed them.

About 24 hours later, I move a file on my desktop and voila, they are all neatly lined up again in lines on the right side of my desktop.

How is this happening and how do I fix this?

tia

Try running this in Terminal (CAREFULL! Type/Copy exactly as shown!):
Bash:
rm ~/Desktop/.DS_Store
After, place the files where you want, then Restart or Logout/Login to see if it's fixed.
