The Great White North Eh
Hi guys, my early 09 mbp 17 has an interesting issue. Every once in a while (at least once a week) teh desktop icons decide they want to be small (they shrink to the smallest setting). Any ideas on what is causing this or how to get them to stay the size I tell them to?

Using 10.6.1 latest software updates as well

I would guess you have had two fingers on the track pad and moved them towards each other and it has re-sized them. It's kind of hard to explain, like on the iphone when you want to zoom in and out it's the same kind of action.

On a similar note, is there any way to keep pinch turned on, but stop the icons from resizing?

I used to use pinch-in pinch-out as a trigger for Quicksilver, but because of the icon resizing I had to change the trigger to a key combo.

use CMND - or CMND =+

you can try to use "CMND -" or "CMND +" to make web pages bigger and smaller. Watch those sloppy finger strokes! Maybe drink less caffeine... he he
