Can anyone tell me which plist file is the one Apple uses to store the location of the icons on the desktop?
I would like to exclude that file from a CCC backup to preserve the specific arrangement on the target disk.
Thanks in advance.

I am not 100%, but I would guess:

~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
Thanks. I took a look at that apple plist file, but the modification date of that file wasn't right, so I arranged the lists by date modified and dragged a disk icon down a little. Right before my eyes I saw the "com.apple.finder.plist" file appear at the top of the modification date list. Simple really. Thanks for the suggestion, which, while it was wrong, immediately led me to the right answer!

Glad I could “help?”

the finder plist has lots of other things in it, so hopefully you don’t need those
