For some reason, my desktop icons are stacked on my hard drive. I am able to drag the items to the trash or another folder but I cannot move them to another location on the desktop. I did check the "get info" on the desktop and the "locked" option is not checked. Any file that I download or save immediately appears in the top right corner of the desktop on top of the HD icon. Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

Try checking the view options, default keyboard shortcut is :apple:+J. Make sure the grid spacing isn't wonky, its typically 48x48 I think.

Desktop Icons Locked

Thanks! That helped..I messed with the grid and now the icons are not stacked, but I am still unable to move or drag and drop the icons. Any ideas? :)

Ah ha! Problem solved...for now anyway. Icons were arranged by "kind", I changed that setting to "none" and now they are free! Thanks a bunch!
