Hi
I've been a macOS & rMBP 13" for a year now, from Windows. & I love not having icons on the desktop. I also have dock and menu hidden.
How do others keep their desktop?
thanks

ps
my desktop photo is Easter Island

I have a couple of icons on my desktop, and I hate the hidden dock, so mine is a permanent fixture(although it is as small as possible).

I don't hide the dock but my only desktop icons are internal and external storage. I also use Magnet (which I love) to keep the windows organized.

I have the dock setup so it doesn't even show up ever because I usually use uBar. Right now I've just been using Launchpad to open stuff though - Honestly, I keep a lot of my apps to just popup straight at startup and I sleep the machine instead of restarting it pretty much 24/7.

Keep the menu on always and don't have icons on my desktop.

No permanent icons. I use my Desktop for whatever I'm currently working on or need to keep only temporarily for reference. Dock is permanently visible and doesn't have magnification or indicators.

I have my drive icons on the desktop. I do the same thing on my windows machines.
Everything else in taskbar or menus on windows, or in dock on OSX.

Drive icons and temporary files only here. Otherwise it turns into an absolute mess of a desktop for me.

I have no icons on the desktop and dock hidden on the left like some people have already mentioned. Hiding the dock gives you the feeling that you have so much more room.

External drive and my network drive and a short cut to my Music folder. This is my personal machine, my work machine on the other hand has clutter everywhere...
