Hi,
I don't usually turn off my MB, only when I need to bring to school then it's off. Well, when turn it back on, the items on desktop are not in the same place, I have to rearrange them. Preferences are set.
Any idea?
Thanks.

Preferences are set.

That's not very illuminating.

How many icons? What are they? Where are you putting them? Where do they end up after you Restart?

Most icons on your Desktop should reappear in the same place you left them before shutting down. Some will revert to a "default" location, and there's nothing you can do about it. (at least not easily)

I tried the steps from the link above (Terminal), restarted, same old thing :)
How can you set the items as manual, I mean, not by name, kind...
My desktop are quite simple.
Thanks.

Show View Options (from Desktop/Finder) > Arrange By: [choose Snap to Grid or None] "None" is literal. It stays where you drop it. Snap to Grid lines up the icons. You might have to move them to get them to "snap" the first time. You can change the Grid spacing with the slider above. This will also affect whether icon names are on one line or two.
