Unlike lots of people, I really like the keyboard in my 2016 13” MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. The scissors keyboard is just great. I like the firmness, the large keys, the very small key travel, and the clackness. It just feels nice.

I wonder if there is any keyboard for a desktop computer that resembles this particular laptop keyboard. I already tried different keyboards, from Microsoft, Apple, Logitech, Razer, Corsair, either membrane, or mechanical, or semi-mechanical, with different switches.

None of them is as pleasant to type, at least for me, as the keyboard in the MacBook Pro, no matter how people despise it. There is clackness in the mechanical keyboards using Cherry MX Blue switches, and similar ones, but they require more force, and there is significant key travel. I feels uncomfortable to use after a while.

I wonder if there is anything similar to the keyboard in the MacBook Pro. It does not have to have a scissors mechanism, but perhaps combine short key travels, clackness, and firmness. Any ideas?

Thanks.

2016 Macbooks have butterfly, not scissor keyboard. Scissor are 2015 and earlier. Apple Magic Keyboard are also scissor but new generation, improved.

Yes, I know that. I was searching for something that could provide an experience similar to the one in the MacBooks and MacBook Pros, regardless of them using scissors or butterfly mechanisms.

If you’re keen on 2015 keyboards and also butterfly in 2016 and beyond, Apple Magic Keyboard is great. It has keys the same size as on 2016+, but same mechanism as 2015 and earlier. The travel of the keys however was decreased so that right now it feels like something between old scissor and new butterfly.
