Hello all!

I know that permissions changed with Catalina for certain folders, including Desktop. Well, I grant access to certain apps to use my desktop files.

BUT, simply trying to do things with my files on the desktop does not work (either through regular GUI or in the finder window).

If I wish to delete something I put on my desktop, I need to run a sudo command in the terminal. This is ridiculous. I usually store temporary files I'm working on on my desktop. But now I cannot edit those files from the desktop. I can create them or put them there, but once I do, they are locked there. I can't even move them to a different folder outside of the terminal. I've looked at my access in the file info window and it says I have read and write. When I check in the terminal, only root has R/W/X access and I only have read.

I tried using chmod even on files. Doesn't work.

I was fine with restricted access to other folders and even the annoying popups asking to grant apps access. But I cannot even use my desktop. Once a file lands there, I might as well delete it because I cannot do anything with it.

Is there some way to grant myself access to my own GD desktop? Or is no one else experiencing this?

Thanks for any help you can provide!!!

Well, I guess never mind.... I restarted my computer and I can now do things on my desktop. Not sure what the issue was....
