Hi guys,
does anyone know if the desktop version of the Samsung 830 2.5inch SSD will fit in a MacBook Pro? Is it exactly the same thing as the notebook version, just with a different bracket? And if so, is the bracket even needed?

it will fit, your hdd is 2.5 as well.

no bracket needed but if you want to run ssd+hdd the specifics are different.

Yeah, I guess my real question is if I need to use the bracket that would come with the Notebook kit. So if I were to buy the desktop kit (as it's cheaper on Amazon) would I have to buy some kind of bracket as well?

17" early 2011, in case it makes a difference.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 4s: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9B179 Safari/7534.48.3)

You don't need the bracket at all for a mbp

The only difference from the Laptop & Desktop installation kits are that with the laptop kit you get a USB to SATA so you can update the firmware easily on a Windows PC and you get the bracket in the Desktop kit.
