desktop sound

I hope this not a stupid question, but at one point of time, I use to hear a sound when I drag a file into a folder or when I drag a file into the trash ben, but I do not hear it any more, my speakers volume is at the highest level, what has changed? how can i fix it. Thank you

Go to system preferences and Sound.

Sound Effects

Make sure the box is ticked next to: Play User Interface Sound Effects
