My daughter's desktop has somehow become enormous. When she goes into system preferences to change it she can't see the system preferences window. If that window is actually open but out of view is there someway to move it?

OS 10.5.8

You might have success renaming your desktop preference file and rebooting:

1. Start the Terminal (Applications/Utilities).
2. Enter cd Library/Preferences/
3. Enter mv com.apple.desktop.plist com.apple.desktop.plist.old
4. Close the Terminal.
5. Restart your computer.

See if that resolves the "giant desktop" issue. If not, please reply with more information about your setup: What kind of Mac, what kind of monitor, how is it attached, etc.

Is it possible she "zoomed" the desktop to make it larger?

If so, you can zoom it back down by holding "control" while scrolling down with the mouse or trackpad.

Got it fixed.

Thanks for the two suggestions. My granddaughter was able to fix it:

System Preferences/Universal Access Turn Zoom Off
