Desktop pictures were only introduced in System 8.0. Prior to that, you could only tile a pattern over the screen.

There are third party control panels that can add the feature to older systems.

One is 'Decor', which requires at least a 68030 CPU on 7.1 or later (via: http://lowendmac.com/macdan/010326ek.html or http://main.system7today.com/software/decor/decor.html )

Ah, as I thought - not possible natively.
Many thanks for the Decor link, which I've just downloaded. If for any reason I cant figure it out, I may be back - if that's ok? (I'm a total newbie when it comes to System 7, and have never really come to grips with OS 9 neither).

Yup, but I've not used it myself.

It amazes me how far we've come from what was (at the time) considered to be 'feature packed' OS versions. :eek: :confused:
