When I turned on my iMac this morning my desktop had changed to a solid white colour. I have tried to find my old desktop image I but can't find it, its not in the trash or in my picture folders.

Is there a way to find your old desktop images?

What's a "Recycle Bin"? Actually Apple should take a lesson from MS because the Recycle Bin runs rings around the Trash. Did you try Time Machine?

have you tried looking in /Library/Desktop Pictures/? I usually create a directory like /Library/Desktop Pictures/myown to stop myself loosing them in my home directory
