Hey there, i posted a thread earlier explaining my problem that whenever i try to log into either Messenger for Mac or Adium it says it cannot sign in and suggests that I am not connected to the internet. This has been the case for over a week now and its starting to effect my school work as i need to be working with other people on some projects that i am in the middle of doing.

Following people's suggestions i have totally uninstalled Mac and reinstalled it with no effect, i am pretty sure its not my server as I am on my home connection and nothing has changed with that so there should be no reason it should suddenly start refreshing. And finally i don't have peerguardian2 installed!

I'm starting to get a little annoyed with this and it would be so appreciated if someone could help me!

Thanks!

Frohike!

Oh... well that works... but i would really prefer it if i had an application on my dock rather than having to go to a website and do it... any ideas as to why that might be?

Okay I am new to Mac but I think going back to basics might help in this situation.

1) Check DNS Resolution.

i. Open a terminal session [Finder --> Utilities --> Terminal]
ii. Issue the following command [nslookup <DNS Address>
iii. What are your results?

2) NSLOOKUP should give you the IP Address of the server, does it? Presuming it does.

i) Can you ping it, once again from the terminal window [Ping <IP Address>]
ii) What are your results? [Don't be surprised if you can't the host might block it)
