I seem to have a way of destroying keyboards.

Is it normal?

The keys don't get worn, just very shiny. For example, I've only had my iMac 10 weeks except my Bluetooth keyboard is very shiny and the keys all glossy.

Am I too violent with my key tapping or do my fingers just secrete natural oils

Just concerned ...

Wash your hands after eating your feesh and cheeps :p

Seriously though, I suspect it's something on your fingers. I've never had a problem with any of my keyboards, but I wash my hands a lot. The other keyboards in the house (ie. not mine) are filthy!

Yeah, I always wash my hands before any serious Mac typing, whether or not I've been eating fush und chups.

The white keyboards just seem to get dirty so quickly. :(

My white Pro Keyboard is almost 2 years old and the tops of the keys still look as good as new :)

Underneath the plastic, on the other hand...

cleaning

while were talking about keyboards getting dirty, is there any easy way to clean the old pro keyboards? (the ones with the USB on the sides, F1-12 on the main keyboard and plastic between the numberpad and the keyboard)

mine is filthy under the keys, and last time i tried to take one apart i broke one of the clips at the front of the thing. I havent tried since

Unscrew it from the bottom.
