macOS Detecting packed bitstream in .AVI files

Hi,

Was wondering if anyone knew of any API calls in Quicktime/QTKit that could be used to detect the presence of packed bitstream (b-frames) in .AVI files?

Don't want to reinvent the wheel and the API's seem huge, so if anyone has any pointers in the right direction it would be much appreciated.
