iPod Determining Song Volume

I downloaded a new cd via bit torrent and after i dragged the folder into my itunes music liberary all of a sudden it started to "determining Song volume??????" What does this mean...am is my music in danger?!?!

please help

You've got sound check enabled. It tries to play all your music at the same volume so that you don't break your speakers/ears when a loud song in your playlist comes on - basically because not all CDs are made equal, and not all encoders encode equally.
