-is the iMessage and SMS in the same app?
-is the LED flash too bright and annoying?
-can you use the new notification center in replace to BITESMS (somewhat)
-does the camera open quickly from the lockscreen?
-can you (somewhat) customize your lockscreen?
- California is awesome, isnt it?

the iPad messaging does not work without iCloud, does it work on iPhone?

- iMessage and SMS is the same app. when you put in an email, it will verify it. if the message doesn't go through, you can send it by SMS. iMessage can be disabled in the settings

- ?

- not sure what you're asking here.

- opens very quickly

- no, same as always. we need an option to remove stock apps... especially newsstand!! you can't even put that into a folder. takes up space

i'm not sure if i'm reading this right.. but i cannot send any messages using iMessage

no more iPod app. there's Music and Video icons -- waste of space

What I was asking (and thanks) is can you still sms with iMessage working yet? Because you say you can sms, yet cannot send with iMessage.

Does texting still work?
Thx

Use of multiple accounts with iOS 5?

I have 3 Apple accounts I use.

one US account, one UK account - both of these are for itunes music/apps

and

one mobileme account for email and contacts

Can you still add multiple accounts?

I assume that the account you initially use is for backing up the phone so that would be best to use the account with the MOST purchases on it from Apple but I still want to be able to access my ME information.

Can you fill me in on that? cheers!

in the mail settings it lets me add another iCloud account. so i think it's possible

I was asking since we have "LED call and text notification" doesnt it make it to bright and almost blinding? i had it on my BITESMS and it was too bright every time i got a text....

iCloud is the new name for all Apple IDs? Is that correct.

So if I use an @hotmail apple ID then it will automatically upgrade it to an @me iCloud account?

You can't even put newstand into a folder which is a real pain!
On this beta, home sharing of videos is kind of "funky" (in a bad way): Titles don't show for TV shows and the preview images are all screwed up. On top of that, if you make any changes to metadata in your iTunes library after it's connected once, it will forever crash whenever you try and open a shared library.
If home sharing is important to you, avoid this beta...

In the setup screen it has an option to create an icloud account? Can you do this on your phone yet or does it only work for existing mobile me users?

Do they have the same look, feel and operation of the iPod app?

I think they might have done this cause many are very specific about categorizing their folders.

put it this way if you get a text a night the room illuminates for a sec and if you look at the led while its going off then you do get blinded a bit

however it is a nice feature, if the led was on the screen side and less birght (like on a blackberry) it would be a winner, maybe ip5?

i also think the notifications app should have as option to have badges and agree no ipod app (-1)

Why would developers care about any of this?

All they need to worry about is that their apps work with iOS 5. ;)

I'm happy with pretty much all the new features, except for the following:

  • Unability to put Newsstand in a folder, although I presume this is temporary.
  • Notifications Center drop-down feels like a tacky add-on. I think it would look much better if pulling the tab down pushed the app (or homescreen) below it down with it, giving the impression that it's attached above the status bar. The status bar should remain visible at the bottom, in my opinion. Overall, however, I like Notifications Center very much. Great improvement over the old system. So good that it makes it worth tolerating all the little bugs in the iOS 5 beta. :p
  • No indicator that there are unread notifications in Notification Center. Needs an icon in the status bar to let you know there's stuff going on there.

There are a lot of minor, but annoying bugs that I've noticed:

  • Photos taken with iOS 5 can't be accessed by iPhoto '11 (not sure about '09).
  • Composing a text message and locking the phone occasionally results in the text being deleted.
  • DropBox can't access the Camera Roll without crashing, although this will presumably be fixed when iOS 5 is released and they update the app.
  • Landscape orientation when using the Camera app via the Lock Screen shortcut has a graphics orientation bug when you view photos just taken.
  • A few crashes here and there, mainly in Settings (related to new, unfinished features).

I've also noticed that the multitasking tray animation when viewing the home screen is nice and smooth now. It always stuttered for me under iOS 5. :)
