I am looking into learning some new programs. I am hoping to develop an app for the iPad to collect surveys and dump the data into a database on a server. I know very little right now about this since all my experience is using horrible ms access. I have only PC's currently. I can probably pick up a MBP if needed though. What is a good relational database that I should look at for developing the back-end database and what is a good place to start reading about developing iPad apps and forms and sdk's? Thanks a lot.

Have you checked out the Guides and Stickies at the top of this very forum yet?

Sorry - I started posting this in the general forum and then it automatically redirected here. I have been reading through the guides for the past half hour now that I stumbled into this section. :)

Great. I'm pretty sure it won't answer all your questions but at least it will get you started. When it comes to designing the database-access portion of your app (which you may want to hold off on until you are quite comfortable with iPad development), you will probably want to start looking into web services. How your server-side component is designed is, of course, another whole ball of wax.

Thanks a lot. I am basically planning a system for patients will enter data into and I think all this information will get me pointed in the right direction. Thanks again.
