Scenario - I wear my Apple Watch to the gym, usually leaving my phone in the car. I have podcasts downloaded locally to the watch in the podcasts app. Not a problem listening back to these with my powerbeats. Since upgrading i get multiple message saying this device is not connected to the internet when waking the watch (even though podcast are playing)
anyone else encountered the same , or know of a fix ?

I’m encountering this but my phone and watch barely stay paired with my phone anymore. Ping my iPhone works once every five or so times. Widgets are giving up on syncing. Really really frustrated as it worked perfectly before the update.

Experiencing the same issue too. Started happening since the OS updates a few days ago. Multiple notifications that I'm not connected to the net each of which I need to dismiss individually to get back to podcast controls on the watch face - Series 4 (non-cellular) WatchOS 7.4 and iOS 14.5 on SE 2nd Gen.

Same here, Series 4 Wifi. I have already made a reset, with and without backup. However, still got these messages. Seems to be a bug after the update.

Yep, I’m experiencing this too. It seems to generate 2 or 3 of these messages each time the screen wakes, so it’s impossible to skip or adjust volume without first dismissing literally dozens or hundreds of these messages depending on how long I’ve been listening.

Just spoke to Apple Support. They suggested unpairing and pairing again. Did this but didn't fix issue. Might want to try this before contacting Apple just to let them know you've tried this option to no avail.

Personally I’m going to chalk it up to Apple’s bullsh*t bug testing and QA procedures and find a different way to listen to podcasts.

The quality of Apple’s software lately has been terrible - iOS 11 and 13 levels, if not worse. I’m really struggling to understand or accept this anymore.

Just noticed some of my podcasts aren’t actually downloading to phone as they used to bfr latest update (they revamped the podcast app a bit).
I’m guessing it’s these podcasts showing on the watch but aren’t actually synced (cuz they’re not even downloaded to phone).
I’ll manually downloaded all podcasts and then sync then see if I get the notifications next chance I get and let u know if it’s resolved.

I was having major problems with the watch just not seeing the internet or phone. I thought it was since the latest iOS and watchOS upgrades. But then the wife tells me she’s having the same issue. And she’s still on the old version.

found the culprit. We also installed and enabled the firewall in 1Blocker. With that off, no more issues.

Also, it was using a lot of battery.

No updates as of this time. Contacted Apple support a bunch of times to no avail (didn’t expect them to fix it but just wanted to report it ‘in person’ as opposed to on their support forum as I’ll just get suggested to ‘ensure all devices are updated’.

Actually there is one development and that’s the podcasts aren’t syncing as before as of 14.6. Nice!👍😒

*RESOLVED*

Just updated my iPhone SE (2nd Gen) to 15.0.1 and my S4 watch to WatchOS 8.0 and the issue has been resolved!
No more bs 'not connected to the net' message it just works like it used to and as it should.
Hope this fixes the issue for everyone else too!
