hey guys and gals.

Im running a 5s jailbroken with Pangu (latest) and running the latest version of Cydia on a iPhone 5s. All was fine (been jb for several days) until i installed two new tweaks today and i rebooted. Device is stuck on apple logo and i can't enter safe mode via holding the volume up button during boot, it simply does nothing.

I guess my only option is to dfu and restore, but before i go to those lengths, does anyone have any suggestions on getting into safe mode perhaps?

Thanks

You could try to use an app called tinyumbrella to kick it out of dfu mode or place it into dfu.

What tweaks did you you install when this occurred

Not a bad idea, I'll try it.

I installed classic dock and showcase

So i fresh restored and re-jailbroke. Set up phone as new, no iCloud, apple id or anything.

Installed all my tweaks again, and damn. the phone is faster than it has ever been on iOS 8.

I did fresh install iOS 8 before doing my initial jailbreak, and the phone was fast, but now everything is near instantaneous.

I wonder if it's iCloud that bogs down the phone a bit? As crazy as this sounds, if iCloud hits performance this much I might not even bother using it anymore. The phone is like lightning.

Anyone else experience this?

PS: It also appears that the new tweaks i installed (i didn't install classic dock this time though) were not the issue. Seems as though I have been a victim of a passcode reboot loop bug that I have seen others have via some googling.

are you running noslowanimations or speed intensifier tweaks.

those make things even quicker ;)

I had the same happen to me on a iP6 just stuck at Apple logo... Did a restore and re-jailbroke and installed everything as it was and its buttery smooth.

It must've just been a fluke...

Nope, none of those types of things. Although i am glad i had to do the restore now, as annoying as it was. Was definately worth it for this performance boost

Well crap...after what seemed like another ho-hum, everything went smoothly jailbreak I tried a reboot this morning to see if I could get completely rid of the f.lux app that wasn't working. Now I just have that beautiful white Apple staring at me.

It's been a while since I got out of this type of loop. What's the correct method for getting back to stock and re-jailbreaking?

You're not doing any restores from backup after a Cydia launch are you? (Don't know if you changed your mind about setting up as new. )

I'm restoring from a pre-Cydia image. Been down this road a few times over the last 5 years. Just haven't done it for a while. I'll be stock for the rest of the week (gots to work) and then re-jailbraking on the weekend. Of course I say that now and I'll probably stay up late tonight and do it!

Has anyone else got safe mode working on iOS 8? I have a working install now and everything is swell. I tried to go into safe mode to see if it worked, but it just booted as normal (despite holding volume up).

Curious to know if this actually works for anyone?

If you really want to restore later from backup, do the restore first then only JB. Or I'm not sure if this works, if you've JB then restore, try to re install cydia installer through cydia again. Then try to test the passcode.

I saw on reddit that Saurik stated that safe mode isnt really working properly yet on 8.1... So that would answer my previous post in this thread ;)
