I've tried TOM TOM GPS app. And I hate it. Menus are too complicated, non-intuitive, and it takes too many taps to do what you want to do. I also have a built in Alpine GPS in my Acura... it has big buttons (on the touchscreen) you can easily work while driving; not 4-level menus to scroll through like TOMTOM.
Say I want to get to 1234 SW 21st Ave.
in my TOMTOM, I either have to type in the full street name (SW 21st Ave), or enter "21st", and then scroll through 30 possible selections(four quadrants, each one has street, avenue, place, terrace, court, etc); while in my Alpine, I just enter "21", then it asks for the house number (1234), and then lists only streets that actually have such house number.
Same goes with routing options. In my alpine, it takes two taps to change method to "direct" or "fastest". It's way too complicated to do that in the TOMTOM app.
TOMTOM has a lot of features my Alpine doesn't (like the google search) but it is not designed as an app you can use while driving. Too bad Alpine does not offer an iphone app.
