I think I am sunk until I return home, but I had an issue with the 8.0.1 update on my iPad 3 that I need help fixing.

I did the ota update yesterday, but instead of updating, when it powers up I get a picture of the 30 pin connector and an iTunes symbol. I guess the ios update went bad.

I would plug it into my computer to restore, but I on a trip and won't be home for a few more days. Is there a way to force the iPad into reloading the firmware via the Internet, or any other kind of fallback/recovery mode that doesn't need a computer?

At worse, it is just inconvient to me (1st world problem), but it would be nice to have it running for my long airline home.

Nope, too busy working. I should be home tomorrow, so I will be able to take care of it then anyway.

Thanks for the idea however.
