I was in a few airports over the past day, and at the transit airport, my MBP would not connect to the free WiFi access. Before I attempted a connection, I had asked a PC laptop user if the WiFi access was free, which was why I decided to try in the first place.
Curious, I booted Windows via Boot Camp, and it connected flawlessly with excellent signal strength. The speed was atrocious though, but at least I could get online.
Booting back to Leopard after that, the same issue prevailed. Checked the IP and noticed it was assigned a 169.xxx.xxx.xxx address. Left it at that, and boarded my plane.
Any idea what may be causing this?
