So I'm not sure if anyone is playing diablo 2 under boot camp, but I decided to because software mode is ugly with only 256 colors and openGL is poorly coded and lags on any machine regardless of your specs.
But running D2 under windows in glide mode makes the game look stunning, except I ran into a couple hitches using the wrapper on my imac. Mainly, either I could:
a.) use the universal glide wrapper and d2 would run just fine, for a while but then lock up
b.) use a wrapper made specifically for d2 which "ran" but I wasn't able to make out much of the video on the screen, it was messed up.
So what I did (and this was by pure luck) was copy the glide wrapper (the one specifically for d2) dll into my system folder and then I ran diablo 2 from Steam. For some reason the game works flawlessly now and wow does it look good, better than direct3d or openGL. I hope this helps!
