Got a problem with installing Diablo II.. I've downloaded the native installer for OSX and I'm currently running OSX 10.4.10. The problem is that the installation program won't accept my install disc. It just ejects it when it promtps me to insert it..

Has anyone solved this issue?

AFAIK, you must have a Diablo II disc with both the Windows and Mac version on it. The original Diablo 2 discs that first shipped were PC only, and will not work. Only the later discs which read PC/Mac will work.

That's random. I know it's worked for me. Did you have your disk in before you ran the installer (to preempt a prompt)? That may be it. It may be a 10.4.10 issue, too. If you can't sort it out, email Blizzard tech support. They're pretty good at resolving these things, with actual human beings on the other end.

I finally found my dII disks wednesday after 5 years of them missing (I was on a brand new P4 with 256 MB of ram and the brand new windows xp when i was last playing it lol and my freinds powermac g3 running os 9!). I'm installing as I type this on my macbook. Are you're disks scratched?

Same problem happened to me, the game just wouldn't install at all. But after some research I have found out that the installer came with the CD in the Install Disc are only made for OS X version 9 or before, and OS X 10 and above must use the install patch provided by the site.

Hope this helps :)

PS: Apparently they have found an alternative.

Good find, but those don't look too helpful if you can't boot natively into System 9 - which no Intel machines can.

I'm having this same exact problem. I noticed that someone stated that it could be that the very original d2 cd's don't support Mac installation. However, that's what I thought the native installer was for? Or does it just help install the more later cd's that support both OS's?

Anyhow, if anyone has anymore information on this issue please help. I've been trying to solve this issue for a couple days and I'm still waiting on blizzard tech support to get back to me.

Sorry to bring this old topic up but I dusted out my old Diablo 2 CDs and I looks like it was the old PC only discs.

What can I do to be able to play it in mac 0S X? Can I just download a Mac version and install it using my valid CD key?

Yes - folks have been saying that the Blizzard online store will let you download a diskless version/disk image, using your CD key. Sounds like it'd work in this case too.
