Hey all, I have a question for you guys.
My iPod Touch first gen has developed a couple of gray lines going through the screen that developed after I accidentally put my weight on the pocket that it was in, and I felt a crack. I didn't think anything of it as I thought they were my ear-phones (which are crappy so they come apart all the time, so I assumed it was just them coming apart and needed to be snapped back together). But later when I took out my iPod to listen to it, there were two spots of green dots. I didn't really freak out much because they really weren't that big of a deal, the screen was still functional it only had a couple small "blotches" of green dots. I called Apple and they said they cannot do anything for me because my warranty was out literally 17 days ago, but the guy was very apologetic and tried everything in his power to help me, including referring me to iFixit and RapidRepair to get a replacement LCD. He said it was a very easy procedure to replace the LCD, and that he had done it himself to his iPod, and that if I did not want to replace it myself then RapidRepair can do it for me. I figured fixing two spots of green dots wasn't worth $80 ($50 for the LCD and $30 for rapid repair to replace it for me) plus shipping.
I left it alone for a while and later that day I pulled it out of my pocket again and the dots had turned into gray lines, stretching across the screen. I had then realized I should pay to get the LCD replaced, or put up with these lines and wait to buy the second generation when I get the money.
But I googled the problem and I found one source (yahoo answers) to get the mylite flashlight app and turn it to brown and leave it on the charger with this application on to fix these lines. I didn't try it as I thought this was bs. I mean how could this fix a broken LCD? But last night I was bored and got the app and tried it and left it on and it definitely got rid of much of the lines, at this rate leaving it on the charger for 3-4 days will get rid of the lines. I was stunned when I woke up this morning, and I was extremely curious as to what you guys think happened to my iPod, and why this is working. Help?
Sorry for the long-read and a pic is coming of the lines
