I'm in need of a USB dial up modem for faxs which will work with my new iMac. I heard that the new iMacs are somewhat finicky with respect to the external USB modem.

What modems would you recommend?

Thanx.

I recommend a subscription to: eFax. It might make your life easier.

And the cost is...

Thanks for your response. However, I send out one or two faxes per month, making the cost a factor. EFAX costs well over the amount I'd spend on a USB modem, making them non-competitive as far as my situation is concerned.

I have an iMac 2011 27". My Apple USB modem I was using on the late 2010 would not work, but only because the 2011 iMac was running 64bit and the Apple USB modem was incompatible with 64 bit mode. I temporarily booted to 32 bit mode and it worked. I since purchased a ZOOM USB mini-external modem ($49 at Best Buy) and it is working OK.

Thanks for reply

I seem to remember that the Imac uses 64 bits, making it hard to find a workable dial up modem. I love the iMac, however I'm disappointed that every time I upgrade the OS or the computer, I lose some function that I had previously.
