Okay, this is just odd. I use my MacBook Air (Oct. 2010) to connect remotely to a Windows terminal server in my medical office on which I run an EHR system called Allscripts Professional. Anyway, I just downloaded Mountain Lion since it comes with Dictation, which, according to Apple, allows you to dictate in any application where you'd ordinarily use your keyboard. Meanwhile, for the past few months, I've also used my 3rd gen iPad to connect (using the iTap RDP app) and I've used ITS dictation feature without a hitch...just by hitting the virtual microphone key on my iPad keyboard. So, when I double clicked the function key on my MacBook Air's keyboard from within the Remote Desktop Connection app on my Mac (also tried iTap RDP for Mac -- for $25 extra), I have no dictation capability.
Why would the iPad be able to do this, but not the Mac? Is there a trick for dictating when connected remotely to a Windows Server? Anyone have any ideas for a workaround (other than dictating into Pages and then copying and pasting...sort of defeats the purpose of being more efficient)?
