I am looking to transfer audio recordings of speeches (seminar etc.) to written text for Pages, Word programs etc.

Does anyone do this type of stuff and if so, what software are you using? Of course "FREE" would be great, but little change to find probably.

I think Dragon software will do this, but not a big fan of Dragon software (used it in the past). The Mac version still has some issues, and their software works better on "Windows", but I REALLY do not want to use "Windows"...

I tried plugging in a recording of someone speaking into my Mac to try to use the built-un dictation function in the OS X (Mavericks and Yosemite), but it would not work. I was thinking of playing the actual audio file through a speaker and have it pick up in my mic so the dictation function "thinks" it is someone talking in order to transfer the words to written form.

Have not tried it yet, but was wondering if anyone does this kind of work or stuff and if so, what software you are using? I understand that this will not be totally accurate, but at least it will save some time typing the whole thing from scratch (listening and then typing). After I can go back and edit etc.

Thanks for you input! :)
