Hey all.

I discovered I have a really strange issue with my 12.9 2021 iPad Pro that I recently got.

When trying to use Dictation instead of typing out something, like say search a term in safari, it will simply not work with the iPad’s built in mics! When the waveform pops up its very active, like I am in a noisy room, but I am not. It isn’t “flat” like it should be till I talk.

But here is the weird part: It’s only not working for this specific situation. Using dictation when trying to use the built-in mics.

I can evoke Siri using the external mics and it works fine.

I can record video with sound no problem.

I can use dictation through my AirPods no problem.

I have tried a few things to fix it, including toggling off and on dictation, rebooting, but those haven’t helped. At one point I toggled my ipad off silent mode and that helped for a moment, but then it went right back to not working.

I do have the Magic Keyboard but weather I have the iPad attached or not, the results are the same.

Any ideas how I can fix this?

Thanks
