Did any1 here buy a full price iphone 4s from verizon? is it UNLOCKED?

Verizon online is selling a contract free iphone starting at $649.99.

I called apple and was told that if i pay the full retail price, the phone should be unlocked.

any idea on the one from verizon online?

If it arrives unlocked, Verizon can still lock it at any time... Not worth the risk for a couple week delay
 
The Apple Store (retail/B&M) accidentally sold me a Verizon model when I asked to by an off-contract AT&T one.

It was not unlocked. I had to go back and exchange it for the AT&T one.

I called Verizon Global and they supposedly unlocked mine while I was on the phone with them, however I don't have a SIM to test it with.
 
Yeah, Verizon Global is good about that. I had a phone I had never unlocked but that I wanted to sell as unlocked, and they did it right over the phone with me. It's a policy of theirs on global phones.

I am sure they unlocked it but made it so it's not usable by USA carriers and would force it into CDMA/Verizon towers even though the GSM portion were unlocked.

That's why I hate CDMA. No such thing as truly unlocked CDMA phone to use on any carrier. Sure you can flash it and use it on metropcs
 
i just called apple i asked her if i waited to purchase the unlocked verizon iphone 4s will i have the option to use it with ATT she said yes. maybe she didnt know what she was talking about.
 
Give it a try to call local apple store if you can get an unlocked one for full price.
It's less risky/troublesome.
 
i bought a white 32gb 4s full price and to my knowledge it is not unlocked. i've done the same with an android that was a world phone and it didn't come unlocked.

Yes I do understand that...but keep in mind when Verizon or Sprint unlock the phone for you, they aren't unlocking the CDMA side of things, just unlocking the GSM. And they have said that within the states it will still be locked to the CDMA carrier. It will be only for travel reasons for unlocking the sim slot.

Also, the fully unlocked iPhones don't have a CDMA side at all. Just so people know.

i called them couple days ago, and they said if i pay full retail price, it would be unlocked.
