Im not sure if its that hard to figure out for most people but it took me forever to figure out that double tapping the home button brings up a music control wherever you are. At first i opened the music control on accident and i didnt know how i did it.

It be changed in the settings to bring up different things. Like favorite numbers (iPhone only).

Uh... This is the Touch forum, so presumably people are talking about the Touch. So no, on the Touch it can't be changed to anything else.

This is a little off topic but is there any way to change the song track without first having to turn on the screen, then double tap the home button, then press the screen to go to the next track? I feel like if you held down the volume button on the side long enough it should change the track or something. It's difficult to go to the next song while your jogging. Anybody know a faster way?

You don't need to turn on the screen. Even if the iPod is in sleep, if you double-press the home button it turns on the screen and lets you press it.
