... Or did I somehow turned it off? Apple added sometime ago with its Keychain that it not only autofills the login, but also directly submitting it, saving a click. Was this cancelled because too many people complained about that? I don't find anything definite about with Google – if it is just me on my side, it would be nice if you could let me know.

Thanks a lot, Merry Christmas!

There seems to be a bit of a bug in either iCloud in general or Catalina to where Keychain sometimes doesn't sync. The fix I've found is to log out of your iCloud account entirely in Catalina, reboot and log back in. That seems to re-sync Keychain

Thanks for the answer, appreciated – though I have no problems with Keychain itself and its synching. Everything seems perfectly fine when it comes to this. However, the auto login (not auto-fill) stopped working. Apple probably cancelled this functionality as a lot of people complained about it, but I just want to be sure that it is not a bug on my side.

That's the same issue I had - signing out of iCloud on the Mac and signing back in fixed it. Your mileage may vary.

In this case, I'll try that again – already signed out and signed in to iCloud some weeks ago (because of another issue), so I (prematurely) ruled this out. Thanks for the hint.

I know that Apple changed Safari so third party extensions couldn’t process the ‘click’. Case in point, 1Password used to be able to auto submit but security changes in Safari put a stop to this. Now 1P will fill out the dialog box but you have to press submit yourself. It’s possible Apple are following their own security rules too.

I am using 10.13 and noticed an auto-click feature that started around two months ago and lasted about a month. I assume random update #56765 brought it on, and random update #56788 took it away.

Can't say that I particularly cared for it in certain circumstances, such as when I wanted to be able to check the "stay logged in" checkbox that is on some sites.

Not sure, I know that certain sites break it intentionally (here's looking at you Gmail and Live).

I didn‘t mind the trade to be careful to check this checkbox once before using auto-fill for saving one click all the other times and make auto-fill even more comfortable, but I guess these are first-world problems ... 🙂
