Did Apple release a flawed product?

Firstly, My iPhone has only dropped its connection once and the rest of the time it has worked fine so I have no complaint about the phones performance.

There are people having problem though and I hope I do not get them in the future. It seems to me Apple should have not released a flawed product. The bars are displayed incorrectly and many people are having connection issues which is hardware issue with the antenna.

Even Anandtech that actually tested the reception issue with actual data said the reception is better than a 3GS.
