So yesterday I decided I wanted to check out new iPhone Air at local Apple Store. I didn’t pre-order or anything like I usually do. Just walked up told them I interested in the air to buy. Rep outside store was able to add me to reservation appt list and confirmed phone in stock.

I fully own my 16proMax. And wanted to get 700$ trade in credit. However during the purchase I told worker I didn’t want to give my old phone today, and wanted to do mail in trade-in box, as I I have done with my pre orders in past with Apple.com orders. He said no problem.

He finished my order but didn’t ask for shipping address for trade-in box, I brought it up to him he said I have to call 800myapple to request. Also I was fully charged and my receipt has no mention of trade in. I pushed him a few times, since I think order wasn’t process correctly.. He said u can also bring old phone back to store to finish trade in??

Am I missing something? I usually do online orders. This is 1st doing Instore purchase. I feel like he just did my purchase as stand alone and not a trade in

Apple wont give you credit for your trade in if you're not trading in there and then. You will be charged full price for your new iPhone unless you hand it over to them and they have it physically in their hand.

Did the Apple person provide you with an estimated credit amount (and hopefully print or e-mail it)?

Call the 800 number and request a box for trade-in credit of the amount discussed and confirm that a trade-in credit can be processed by mail-in.

If support says "full price only", return it and demand a full refund.

Edit: certainly try the suggestion above (request a trade-in box).

Probably the only way to get the result you wanted is to return the Air and make a new purchase with in-store trade-in. I understand that this isn't how you want this to work.

I am also doing a trade in and was told it’s linked to your order. There’s no box associated with it unless you call and request one but you have to mail it in if you go that route.

Also, as someone said, you won’t get your credit until you turn your phone it.

100% Correct.

That’s why I always do Walk In Trade in they always have “extra”
