I saw they showed off the clear mode icons but they did not show or mention Dark-mode icons (like we have on iPhone and iPad since last year)

Can someone confirm its there? And a screenshot would be appreciated!

Thank you but thats not what I meant, I believe those are tinted icons.

In iOS and iPadOS, there are Dark icons that also have colors like this :

That chrome icon looks awful.
Seems like developers need to adjust to dark mode manually. Some of them couldn’t even do it on iOS. :(
100%. It also looks bad in "clear" mode:

I wonder if I could replace it on my own? Like with Pictogram or something. I'll have to experiment

Yeah... If the app doesn't include a "dark" icon, macOS tries to make one, and that appears to be by just putting the regular icon in a dark box.

I'm sure a lot of apps will be updated with proper icons by the time that Tahoe releases, but there will be some stragglers ... forever.

Thank you to all of you, excited to have those on my mac! ..and to have developers update their icons lol

I tried using a random Chrome icon from macosicons.com with Pictogram, but it still looks bad. Maybe there's a way to do it but I don't really know what I'm doing and to tell you the truth I might be downgrading my Mac back to Sequoia today lol. Haven't decided yet.

I'm curious what the "Finder" icon looks like in dark mode? (It's not present in your screen snips.) Just with people complaining about how they inverted the colors for the regular icon...

If you are wondering how I got spaces: https://chrispennington.blog/blog/add-spacer-in-macos-dock/

Also I have (so far) decided to stay on the new version just because I don't have the energy to downgrade, and knowing myself, I will always feel a bit of FOMO if I am not on the latest version..even if it hurts me to be on it lol

I've said before but I think my biggest hang-up with this new version is that they took away my frosted glass. I love frosted glass! :C

Nice, Dark is def my favorite..just wish the dock itself was also dark (like on current macOS dark-mode)

Well at least if you are running dark mode, chances are good that "behind your dock" is something that is dark ...

Dark

Thanks for posting. Looks like they are inconsistent with whether the left side or right side of the Finder icon should be the "colored" side. (Check out "light" vs "light tinted" and they are basically inverted.) Anyway, I think they all look decent (the first-party apps, anyway) and I will probably also stick to regular "dark".

It appears that @MakaniKai used the light appearance mode for all those screenshots. The color of the dock is determined by the 'Appearance' setting; not the 'Icon & widget style' setting. Basically, those two settings are independent of each other and work the same way as they do in iOS/iPadOS 18. One could have a light appearance and dark icons, or a dark appearance and light icons.

oops! You are correct, I was on light mode. The change is so subtle I didn't notice a difference.
