So to make a long story short...I lost my apple watch series 1. I tried to use find my phone app to try to locate the device however it's a lost cause at this point (potentially in my house but unsure).

Anyway, I at least want to delete all the data that was on the watch. Was the correct move to unpair the device from my iPhone? I read online that you could do other things in find my iphone but it was too late since I already unpaired the phone in my watch app. Was this the correct move? Is my data from the watch erased?

No, your data is not erased on the watch. All you managed to do was unpair the Apple Watch directly from your iPhone, which now no longer connects your Apple Watch to your iPhone.

If You want to erase your settings on your Apple Watch, you have to use Settings-General-Reset-Erase all content & Settings after you input your passcode if you had one enabled.

If it was still powered on, could you not send a command to play a sound and search for it? I realize it being powered on depending on how long ago you lost it could be a stretch.

Well, I did find it this morning...the good old fashioned way by tearing my house up only to find it on top of my kruig cup holder shelf (must have taken it off to wash my hands or something and completely forgot to put it back on) o_O.

Thats what happens when you have a rough week I guess. Thanks again everyone that tried to help.
