Picked up this today...

Macbook 2,1
2GHZ
2GB Ram upgraded to 4GB
100gb HD
Superdrive

With a brand new battery, Install disks and original reciept...

(Slight crack on the right wrist area, nothing that can't be fixed with some epoxy resin)

350€

I think that is a nice bargain...
 
I actually picked it up as a present for my Ex....

Well I say Ex it is actually for my sons mother.... complicated long story.... :)

Simple Version...

I moved to Finland, met an English girl and we had a kid...

We broke up but I moved just around the corner to be near to my son..

Thing is we are now getting along better than we did when we were together..

She has a permanent job here and now I am unemployed as my last job would not renew my contract due to the downturn i the economy...

I could go back to the UK and work, but I refuse to leave my son here..

Anyway she loves my iMac and when I moved out, all she was left with was an 8yr old Acer Espire laptop... my god that machine has seen better days... (Lets not kid ourselves here, it was crap when she bought it and it is even more crap now).

So I found her a 2nd gen white Macbook, as she is a teacher and she really does need a decent laptop.

So there you go longish story wrapped up nicely... :

So do you think there is any chance of rekindling the relationship between you two? How old is your son now? What does he think of it all?
 
That same laptop can be picked up for $300-400 on eBay in the states, in that condition.

In europe, the overall resale value might be worth more, so it might not be comparing apples to apples. Not sure.

Apple will fix this for free if you bring it in to a retail Apple Store. I don't remember off the top of my head if there are any in your area or not.

I would hope that your son's mother would be an ex. By that, I don't mean that if you have a kid you should separate from the mother, but that if your son's mother isn't currently with you, I should hope that she's an ex, as opposed to some random girl you don't know. ;)

Fair point Well made.

I suppose i feel it is a bit of an odd situation. The both of us living in a foreign country With no familial back up close by, ever though we are not together anymore we rely heavily on each other to be there for our son and each other.

In some ways we have a better relationship now than we did when we lived together... I must say talking this over With complete strangers.... Like minded individual Mac users as we are, is very theraputic. :)
 
well if things go pear shaped and you have a little falling out with her. Just install Lion on her mac. That will get back at her....

Nah I was gonna stick Snow Leopard on it though.... and fill it up with stuff she will need before I give it to her...

I got my black 2008 macbook 2.4ghz, 4gb ram, 250gb hdd for free!!! i am a developer and traded my cr-48 google chrome book for it ;)
 
Clean install of Snow Leopard done and Laptop delivered to my Ex.

She was over the moon with it, I went round yesterday and set up Plex for her from to run from her EXT HD.

Now have to just convince my son that it is not actually his and he can't Skype people whenever he wants to.

For a 3 year old his ability to use technology amazes me.
