I purchased a 900 Mhz g3 12 inch ibook with 40GB HD, 640MB Ram, 32 Megs of VRAM, Combo Drive, and Airport card installed. It came with 10.4 pre-installed. It also has apple care until Aug, 2008 according to the apple site. It also came with a Belkin USB Blutetooth adapter. I paid 360 for the computer. Did I get a good deal? What do you guys think this computer is worth?

I would almost guess that you're bragging. But that's a pretty darn good deal, so brag away! :)

I'm a bit confused as to how it has Apple Care that long after it was built - was it purchased as a refurb from Apple a few months ago? I was unaware that you could extend Apple Care that many years after the original build date.

But, yeah, sounds like a good deal to me.

The person who originally bought it 2 years ago, asked apple if he could get 5 yr apple care, Apple gave it to him, but obviously at a higher price than $250.

Forgot to mention, the battery and logic board were replaced last month by apple as per there recall program.

Well in that case, I would say you definately got a good deal and would have no problem selling it on ebay for an extra couple hundred than you paid for it.

Does anyone have any ideas on what case I should buy for the ibook. Although i bought a mac mini and dell 2005fpw in July, i still feel new to the whole apple experience. Any suggestions are welcomed.

Let me know if you need the top and bottom case for it.
I have them in good condition, cheap = $25 ;)

I have never heard of this..

You may want to call Apple to check status of the Applecare. To my knowledge there has never been a 5 year Applecare package.

Regardless thats a good price.

called Apple....definitely covered until Aug 2008, but the guy was a little confused as to how it had a 5 yr apple care plan, but he said it was definitely under warranty for another 1033 days or whatever :)

there is no such thing as 5 year apple care, i work with apple, people request longer warranties, they don't sell them.

not a bad deal, but you're on such an antiquated processor that it's kind of a moot point, especially considering you seem to have the intention of keeping it to at least 2008

why would the system say i had 1033 days of applecare remaining then?

Sounds like they mistakenly gave you a three year warranty rather than a three month warranty on parts for the new logic board. Don't question it -- just enjoy...

oh i will, im very excited about it. Although i know this ibook isnt a powerhouse, id assume it would be fine for Word, itunes, and dvds

I paid $1200 for that computer just over two years ago. You got a good deal :)
