I took my 24” ACD in for repair today. They can’t repair and gave me a replacement.

The serial number for the replacement is 2A006xxxxx. I went to:

http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html

and Production year: 2000? How’s that possible. I think it’s should be 2010.

What are your thought?

Production week: 06 (February)

If it’s Feb 2010, is it possible to be refurbished? Or New?

The only cinema display produced in 2000 was the 22", and .. yea... not a chance XD

Don't worry about it :) If it was a refurb, it would have come in a generic brown box.

Well, my replacement didn’t come in any box at all! I have this done in my local apple store. So no shipping was involved.

It only have a piece of white tissue like paper covering up. The Apple logo in front and at the back have plastic stickers on them.

It's a refurb. You didn't give them a new one. You didn't get a new one. You got a functional one (which is what you wanted in the first place).

refurb could be a product returned by a previous customer without using it

maybe he changed his mind and sent the screen back to apple

box could be opened but the product is still brand new

Hmm..in that scenario, it could also have been returned to Apple but he didn't tell them that it wasn't working properly.

Is there a way for me to tell whether it’s refurbished or new simply but looking at the serial number?
