Did I just waste my money?

I own an iPhone and just got my girlfriend an iPod touch (preloaded with 1.1.4) and recently shelled out the $10 to upgrade it to 2.0.

Before I got my iPhone 3G, I had the first gen iPhone and upgraded that to 2.0 and I still have the 2.0 installer on my computer...

My question:
Was that iPhone 2.0 installer a general installer that would have worked on the iPod touch as well?

No they are different because the iPod doesn't have a GSM radio.
