Did I purchase the right RAM?

I see alot of links for other brands/vendors but nobody really mentioned newegg which is pretty cheap when it comes to other pc parts. Spec wise it seems to be the same, ECC/FB/DDR2... just wanted to make sure? I ordered it last night on a whim... i also read on the forums here through search about it needs to have special heatsinks? this is my first MP....

Am i better off running this 8 gig in my 08' MP 2.8x2 by itself or with the 2 gigs it came with = 10 gigs? I seem to read some discrepancy about ram/256 paths and some other stuff. Thanks again!

Lastly, i know that all SATA II drives are compatible, but if i purchase a velociraptor and plug it in how does the OS see it? I plan to use the velo as primary OS drive and use the apple drive as a sec. disk.

Check out http://www.crucial.com/mac/index.aspx you can select the exact memory you need for your system.

It might be pricer, but it's 100% compatible

not the right memory. you need the FB-DIMMs with the huge heatsinks.

Take a look at these. You want the 800MHz variety

This is the RAM I got. Loaded up my MP with 16GB and loving it.

If you got it at Newegg, just call and exchange. the iRam I got is only $79 for a set of 4gb right now.
