Okay so i have the Macbook Pro 2008 Version.. the one that came out i think in the end of February or close to that date. My power adapter died so i called Apple and they sent me a new power adapter.

Before my adapter looked like this

And the new one looks like this

I haven't tried it out yet since i'm not at home atm but i was wondering if i received the right one? Thanks!

I think you want to double check the wattage. There is a 45W, a 60W and 85W version of that newer power adapter.

Anything equal to or higher than the wattage your computer needs will work fine. So if you have a 13in, you are supposed to use the 60W, but the 85W will also work. If you have the 15in, only the 85W will work.

The new design was supposed to reduce the chances of the connection between the wire and plug from failing, but mine which is less than 2 months old is already going bad.

LUCKY! lol I want the new power adapter! haha

Have you tried the new adapter? In my mind they're MUCH worse than the original. They don't come out as easily, and if pulled at the wrong angle they pull the computer across whatever surface it's sitting on.

Yup, they're garbage. I use an older-style power adapter when on-the-go with my MBP.

Eh, not really, sorta. My grandmother bought a 15" MBP, and she received a 60w charger in the box (unopened, from apple store).

The only 15" MBP to come with a 60W charger is the mid-2009 15" 2.53GHz with the 9400M only (not the 9600M GT). For any other model the included charger should be 85W.

That exact 15" model I have and I can confirm mine came with a 60W charger. I'm curious as to why?

This happened to me the other day and the computer flew clear off the table. Luckily there was no damage at all to the computer...(had a cover over it)....however, I still do like the new adapter, I have had 3 adapters, 2 old and 1 new and the 2 old have both frayed at the base very quickly....

Looks like a toothbrush. I prefer the ok'd style.

Actually a 60w works just fine with the 15". I use one every day with my mbp and have no problems charging or otherwise.

That's because your computer isn't actually drawing >60W all the time. If you started doing more intensive work on it you would start to see a drain on the battery.

My old power adapter cord got fraid and bent up somehow. Took it to an Apple store and they replaced it free with the new model. Very nice. I like it better than the old adapter. The magnet seems stronger and the cord more heavy duty.
