I just got off the phone with Apple support after an issue with a manual restoration that i did. Essentially, there was a problem with the system.keychain file (~/Library/Keychains) and i ultimately decided to remove that file from that location (i have it backed up).
This removal fixed the issues i was having, such as the system being convinced that my password for the keychain "System" was invalid (even though it would let me change said password), but it means that in Keychain Access, there is no longer a "System" keychain. I know that this keychain holds the kerberos stuff, but i don't really know what i lose by not having that or any of the other info there. My network passwords, which are also automatically saved in the user's "login" keychain (~/Users/[username]/Library/Keychains), work just fine right now. The automatic login upon startup still works, too.
Is there anything i might have ruined or lost? Kerberos is a security tool, so what do i have that is no longer secure?
Thanks for all advice and thoughts!
P.S. I had tried a couple times to get macrumors help before i called Apple, so if you really want to know the details of the original problem (which are not the focus of this thread), the threads are these: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/600455/ and https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/598802/
